Blackburn Cathedral Trust

The Trust exists to ensure that the Cathedral can provide an outstanding environment, not only for Christian worship, but also for the many diverse cultural and inspirational activities which depend on the cathedral facilities being at the highest possible standard.

Blackburn Cathedral Trust is a charity set up to raise funds to ensure the Cathedral continues to serve the needs of the people of Lancashire.

Contrary to popular belief, the Cathedral is not funded by the Diocese or the government, but relies mainly on the church commissioners and the generosity of the congregation through the stewardship scheme.

To continue to provide an outstanding environment, not only for Christian worship, but also for the many diverse cultural and inspirational activities which depend on the cathedral facilities being at the highest possible standard, we need the support of communities within Lancashire and beyond.

The Trust raises funds in a variety of ways and has a lively programme of fundraising events throughout the year. One of the current objectives of the Trust is to support the refurbishment of the Crypt into a multi-purpose space for entertainment, exhibitions and events.
