Join our congregation

Blackburn Cathedral is made up of multiple congregations, our community is friendly and warm and you are welcome to join us.

The Cathedral congregation is a vibrant and open worshipping community. You may never have joined a congregation before but don’t worry, there is no pressure to do anything or be anyone - you can come and be yourself and engage as much or a little as you like.

Blackburn Cathedral is a light-filled space and guests are often struck by the beauty of the building when they first enter. We understand that it might feel a little daunting if you’ve not been here before, but don’t worry – all are warmly welcome and you’ll soon get to know your way around.

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a Steward on a Sunday, or a volunteer on the welcome desk during the week. If you have come for one of our Eucharist services or Evensong on Sunday someone will greet you at the West Doors with an order of service and help you find somewhere to sit in the Nave; please feel free to sit wherever you like.

There is a level approach to the main entrance of the Cathedral at the West End (closest to Darwen Street), and the door is wheelchair accessible. There is also level access to the North and South Transept and down the lift to Checks and Greys Café and the toilets. You can find out more about accessibility here.

Children and babies are warmly welcome, and there’s plenty of space for them to move around.

The Cathedral has a growing pastoral team made up of lay-people, led by the Canon Missioner, who are available to provide home visits and communion at home.
