We welcome thousands of school children to Blackburn Cathedral each year and we would be delighted for schools to arrange a visit to come and see Gaia during October and November.
Gaia will be on display at Blackburn Cathedral from 6th October - 16th November.
Due to capacity limitations, there are restrictions in place and all school visits must be booked and confirmed in advance.

Visit options
To coincide with the installation of Gaia, our Education Department are offering workshops which focus on aspects exploring our place in our world, to help pupils ponder the big questions of life here on our planet. This visit can support RE, Geography, Science and PSHE learning.
Living on Our Beautiful Planet
- An introduction to our responsibility to care for God’s creation, to consider how our actions have impact on the sustainability of our natural resources.
- Activities will include exploring how we are linked to our environment, how our actions affect our planet and our responsibility to protect God’s beautiful creation.
- Crafts – prayer bracelets, making a large collage from recycled materials with our chosen logo and message.
Nations of Our World
- Pupils will consider the theme ‘Peace’ and how all humankind seek to live in harmony with each other.
- Activities will include exploring how we make peace, how we ensure all have a voice in our communities and that traditions of people around the world are respected.
- Crafts – prayer bracelets, shells of Pilgrimage for our journey on this planet and peace pledges.
Pre-booking
All school visits must be booked and confirmed in advance. As a result, we are unlikely to be able to accommodate your school visit without advance confirmation of your attendance.
Due to large numbers of visitors, if you wish to bring a group of 10+ people (non-schools) to view Gaia, please contact us in advance to ensure that we have the capacity to facilitate your visit.
