“A Life in Cancer Care: Pastoral and Professional Ministry Combined”
Join us for our series of Science and Faith Lectures, taking place under Luke Jerram’s installation of the Museum of the Moon throughout November. You are welcome to join us in the spectacular setting of Blackburn Cathedral as we explore faith and its relationship with science.
Guest Speaker:
The Revd Canon Dr Mike Kirby – Senior Lecturer (Radiotherapy Physics), Liverpool University; Canon Scientist, Liverpool Cathedral; Priest in Blackburn Diocese.
Lecture Synopsis
Cancer touches the lives of nearly 1 in 3; present in all our communities. As a professional healthcare scientist, Mike has worked for decades in clinical and academic environments, developing, researching and writing about the cancer sciences in the field of Radiotherapy.
Since ordination (2013) and a ministry mainly in cathedral contexts, whilst still an active scientist, a blended spiritual approach to pastoral and professional care has emerged. Here Mike reflects personally on some of his experiences in a life of science and faith.
There is no charge for entry, donations are encouraged and everybody is welcome.
