Kenneth Wilson: Pilgrim Cello Tour 2025
3rd July at 1:00 pm
Details
All 42 English cathedrals. On a bike. With a cello.
In 2022 poet and cellist Kenneth Wilson set off from Hadrian’s Wall, cycling the length of England, through France and over the Alps to Italy and finally on to Rome.
He played the cello each day in scheduled and pop-up concerts, busking and just responding to the moment.
Three years later and he is back on his bike as he undertakes a mammoth 2,000 mile bicycle pilgrimage around all 42 English Anglican cathedrals, performing a special meditation as he visits each one.
The meditation consists of JS Bach’s beautiful ‘Suites for Solo Cello’, interspersed with poems of reflection on the Seven Last Words of Jesus from the cross.
All are encouraged to come and give Kenneth a warm Lancashire welcome and listen to his performance, hear about this extraordinary pilgrimage and how he manages it all with his cello strapped to his bike.
The performance lasts around 50 minutes, there is no entry charge and donations will be gratefully received.
