Civic Service at the Start of the Mayor’s Year

The Cathedral will host a special civic service to officially welcome the new Mayor to the role as part of the borough’s Civic Sunday.

Those representing the life and work of the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen and dignitaries from across the area will join a procession to the Cathedral where the civic service will begin at 12pm.

Following the service, a procession will make its way to Blackburn Town Hall, where the Mayor will give a traditional Civic Sunday speech to mark the start of the Mayoral year.
