Special services this Christmas
Worship is at the heart of Cathedral life every day and highlights of the Christmas period include the Advent Service of Light and Nine Lessons & Carols.
There’s our delightful family-friendly Carols Around The Crib service on Christmas Eve followed by Midnight Mass at 11.30pm.
There are two services on Christmas Day which the Parish Eucharist at 9am and The Cathedral Eucharist at 10.30am.
Christmas events calendar
Blackburn Cathedral is home to a wide range of special events this December including Gabriella Roar's 'A Grand Georgian Christmas', our famous Christmas Spectacular, Christmas by Candlelight and a month rounded off by G4 live in concert.
There's also Blackburn Music Society giving their ever-popular annual performance of Handel's Messiah and a very special performance of ‘La Nativité du Seigneur’ by Olivier Messiaen.
Christmas at Checks & Greys
With delicious seasonal favourites, special festive meals and group dining options, there's something for everyone at the Cathedral café, Checks & Greys, this Christmas.
From the modern interiors of our café to the unique setting of the newly refurbished Crypt, you can be assured of a warm welcome this Christmas.
Highlights include Christmas specials on the café menu, pre-bookable Christmas meals in the Crypt and for larger groups our great value Christmas Carvery, Christmas Buffets and Festive Breakfasts.

The Cathedral is home to a number of extraordinary pieces of modern art, some beautiful chapels where you can stop to pray and light a candle or perhaps visit the popular Cathedral café, Checks & Greys.
