Choirs

Our choirs are made up of a diverse range of people and offer a friendly welcome and a place for everyone.

There have been choirs singing on this site for over a thousand years and today Blackburn Cathedral maintains a vibrant choral tradition.

The Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir is our ‘flagship’ choir, known widely for their broadcasts on national television and radio.

It is open to girls and boys (starting at age 8), professional-standard adults and junior Choral Scholars, who are typically sixth-form age.

The Cathedral Choir represents a unique free start to musical life for local children, most of whom have no musical experience.

Please email the director of music for more information: [email protected].

The Cathedral Youth Choir

The Cathedral Youth Choir sings at the Parish Eucharist. It is open to girls from year twelve (or year nine if they have not previously been Cathedral Choristers) and provides a safe space for boys with changing voices to find their new voices.

Initially, please email the director of music for more information: [email protected].

St. Paul’s Voices

St. Paul’s Voices is the Cathedral’s voluntary choir. They sing enthusiastically to a high standard, and are a great place to return to singing, or indeed to try it for the first time.

They are directed by our Organist in Residence, who may be contacted at [email protected] for more information.
