100 Faith Stories Participation Terms
Before participating in the project and ahead of submitting your faith story, please review the following terms:
1. About the Project
- Blackburn Cathedral (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is organising the “100 Faith Stories” project, featuring personal stories of faith and accompanying photographs.
- The project will result in a public exhibition and a printed book, launching in 2026 to mark the Cathedral’s centenary.
2. Participation and Submission
- Participation is entirely voluntary. No payment or other benefit will be provided.
- Submitting your story and the taking of your photograph does not guarantee inclusion in the exhibition or book.
- Submissions may be made online via our website (with confirmation) or offline (with a signed consent form).
- Contributors under the age of 18 are required to provide written parental or guardian consent.
3. Use of Stories and Images
- We may edit your submitted story for length, clarity, grammar, style, and consistency with our editorial standards.
- Final editorial decisions, including the choice of accompanying photograph, are made solely by Blackburn Cathedral.
- By participating, you agree to allow us to select the most appropriate image, story presentation and application.
4. Rights Granted
- By submitting your story and photograph, you grant Blackburn Cathedral the full and exclusive rights, globally and in perpetuity, to use, publish, reproduce, edit, adapt, and distribute your materials.
- This includes:

- The initial 2026 exhibition and book.
- Future exhibitions and events.
- Displays or tours at other cathedrals, churches, or suitable locations.
- Use on Blackburn Cathedral website(s), social media, marketing, educational activities, press materials and other associated activities.
5. Ownership and Copyright
- Copyright in each submitted story will be assigned to Blackburn Cathedral upon submission.
- You waive any moral rights in respect of how your materials are edited or presented.
- Copyright of your photograph will be retained by the photographer and assigned for use by Blackburn Cathedral in relation to this project only.
- You may request a copy of your portrait for personal, non-commercial use, which may be granted subject to written approval.
6. Withdrawal and Changes
- After submission, withdrawal or changes will not be possible, except in exceptional circumstances (such as – but not limited to – serious illness, death, or criminal conviction) and only before publication.
- Removal of content from online or printed material may be considered at our discretion but is not guaranteed.
- We reserve the right to remove any material – be that within the exhibition or book or other similar activity – for whatever reason and without warning or recompense.
7. Sensitive Content and Disclaimer
- The views and experiences shared by contributors are personal and do not represent the views, theology, or official position of Blackburn Cathedral and / or its partners, subsidiaries or other related parties.
- Blackburn Cathedral is not responsible for the truth, accuracy, or completeness of individual submissions.
8. Complaints
- If you have any concerns, in the first instance, please contact us.
- We will consider all concerns but are not obliged to amend or remove content once submitted and published.
9. Legal Liability
- You confirm that your story is truthful and based on your own personal experiences.
- You agree to indemnify Blackburn Cathedral against any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from the content you submit.
- Blackburn Cathedral accepts no liability for dissatisfaction relating to editing, presentation, publication choices or styles.
10. Data Protection
- We will store and handle all personal data securely and in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and in line with our privacy policy.
- Your personal data will be used only for purposes connected with the 100 Faith Stories project.
11. Safeguarding and Participant Welfare
- Blackburn Cathedral is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all participants, particularly children and vulnerable adults.
- Appropriate safeguarding measures will be taken throughout the project, including the collection of parental or guardian consent for contributors under the age of 18.
- We will ensure that the process of collecting, editing, and exhibiting contributions is conducted in an appropriate, sensitive, and respectful manner at all times.
- Any safeguarding concerns raised during the project will be handled in line with Blackburn Cathedral’s Safeguarding Policy.
