Blackburn Cathedral is the delivery agent for a unique collaboration that brings together The Diocesan Board of Finance, The Diocesan Board of Education, and Blackburn Cathedral in partnership with the Choir Church Foundation. As part of the Diocesan Strategy Vision 2026 this initiative seeks to
- Plant new congregations which make disciples of Jesus Christ;
- Learn excellent music with the Gospel at the heart;
- Offer vibrant worship which includes people of all ages; and,
- Work for social justice and model a church which is both of and for the poorest.
The Christian Choral Tradition is a powerful tool for evangelism among children and their families. We are seeking to test how the English Choral Tradition and its grounding in sacramental worship can be adapted to a planting context in the faith, home, school triangle as part of a mixed-ecology church.
We are searching for a key member of the team to support the range of parishes planting congregations in their schools, a person with the drive; skills; and flair, to contribute to the successful delivery of this ambitious project that already has enthusiastic parishes eager to make a start.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for the vision and the energy to promote and encourage participation.
Additionally, Choral Directors to run the music of up to three Choir Churches are sought, which could form the backbone of a freelance career.
